If you are familiar with Windows Movie Maker, which usually comes with Windows (C:\Program Files\Movie Maker\moviemk.exe), you can use it to make music photo slideshow.
But in my personal experience,you may be disappointed at the output effects,Crude and simple.
To make better and professional looking slideshows you need something more advanced but still user friendly ,then try DVD Slideshow Builder. Same sort of layout as Movie Maker however a lot more powerful. It doesn’t take some learning..

1. Import videos and photos.
2. Select transitions that you like.
3. Add background music,caption, narration, illustration and effects to the slideshow.
4. Directly burn onto DVD disc or AVCHD. Or share them on TV, PSP, MP4,etc with HD effect.

Looks like everyone gave you plenty of options. If you have pictures of the kids downloaded on your computer then using powerpoint is the simpliest way. You just insert the picture you want then add the music.

If you have PowerPoint then use it, if not there are many, many free options available for online i.e. smilebox or download.
try to do that in windows video maker.It is already in the accessories. beleive me almost the same with other softwares.
